Legal Name Change Process

The legal process for changing your name in India requires three main steps: first, preparing a notarized affidavit stating your old and new names; second, publishing an advertisement announcing the name change in a local newspaper; and finally, submitting an application, along with required above documents, to the Gazette Office in Delhi for an official Gazette Notification. Once published in the Gazette, this notification becomes the mandatory and legally valid proof, accepted everywhere.
